Lessons
John has been teaching oud, Spanish guitar and Puerto Rican cuatro for more than 20 years via online and in person. On oud he studied under Charbel Rouhana at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, in Lebanon. He has also studied under Simon and Najib Shaheen as well as Bassam Saba with the New York Arabic orchestra where he was first oud there. He has shared the stage with artists such as Marcel Khalife, Bassam Saba, Tony Velez, Sammy Dandrades, Zafer Tawil and more.
With a methodic approach to teaching, John intuitively understands how to deliver information to each individual student based on their needs.
All levels are welcome, from beginning, intermediate and advanced.
Arabic music theory will be taught as well, such as maqamaat, (Arabic modes), iqa’, (rhythms), taqasim (improvision), modulation and more.
